The
Author
While working on
her PhD in literature, freelance
writer Liz Hardy discovered that the antidote
to academic pressure was as close as the self-help
section of her local bookstore.
She became addicted to personal development books
when she found they could be life-changing and seriously
entertaining at the same time.
Noticing that her cat was also struggling with a
high-stress lifestyle - with eight-hour daytime
naps and gourmet dinners on demand - Liz began to
wonder if the feline world could also benefit from
a little self-help wisdom. She became attuned to
the needs of burned-out and exhausted cats everywhere,
adapting New Age techniques from the human world,
to help them de-stress and become more personally
empowered.
The Sound of One Cat Purring and Feline Witches
and Wizards are the result.
The Illustrator
Kiran
Morris is a Melbourne illustrator with a background
in fine art. She lives with Amelie, a fluffy black
cat who fiercely defends her preference for big
hair.
Having
lived with cats all her life, Kiran has developed
deep insight into the feline condition. She understands
that a cat can spend the majority of the day asleep,
yet still be committed to the spiritual path.
Kiran's
cats are highly individual, and represent some
of the distinct personalities that populate the
feline world. She uses carefully chosen symbols
to subtly explore the experiences of feline evolution.
Her symbolic use of catfood images will reassure
any reluctant feline traveller that the road to
personal development should never be explored
on an empty stomach.
In
addition to illustrating The Sound of One
Cat Purring and Feline Witches and Wizards,
Kiran has released a cat-o-centric picture book,
Raised by Frank. She has also illustrated
Lies Your Parents Tell You, which, as
a change of pace, is intended for human rather
than feline readers. |
